Being a bartender can be a great way to earn money when you have time off as a student, or you just want to supplement your current income. The cool thing about working in a bar is you might have to work hard and be on your feet all night, but at least you are usually around other people having a good time and you can have a laugh too.

When you have experience in pubs, bars and nightclubs; you could look into being in pub management, and getting a better job with much higher rates of pay. Jobs in pub management or nightclub management could pay around £25000 to the right candidate and would involve a lot of control over recruitment of other staff, rotas, and general provision for the pub or nightclub.

 

Finding good bartenders could be very difficult but in the recession there are few jobs around so you will be able to be picky. Some of the best pub jobs are in London, which has a lot of money around, and your wages could be higher, but other big cities like Birmingham pub management jobs can be quite well paid. Birmingham is no where near as big as London, but there are still a lot of successful nightclubs and bars that need to be managed.
